Late last year it was announced that the extraordinary story of Swedish pop group Gyllene Tider would be turned into a feature film. The group was fronted by Per Gessle, who went on to form internationally successful pop rock duo Roxette together with Marie Fredriksson in the late 1980s.
The biopic will largely be filmed in Halmstad, where Gyllene Tider formed in the late 1970s. A casting session was held over the past weekend in Halmstad, with the goal of finding talented young actors to portray Per and the other members of the band.
The Gyllene Tider Biopic will tell the story of how the band shot from obscurity in their hometown of Halmstad to national stardom in Sweden. It is a coming of age-story about dreaming big and following your dreams, but also about the pressures and challenges the band faced in the wake of their new-found fame.
The film is set to start filming in 2022.
