Chinese love story “FENG LIU YI DAI” to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival

The Chinese film“FENG LIU YI DAI” or “Caught by the Tides” is set to premiere at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival. The film is directed by acclaimed Chinese filmmaker Jia Zhangke famous for films such as “Mountains May Depart”, “The World” and “Still Life”, a film which won a Golden Lion at the 2006 Venice Film festival.

At its core, the film delves into the delicate intricacies of a love story between a man and a woman. When the man opts to seek better job prospects outside their home province, the woman embarks on a poignant journey to reunite with him.

Leading the stellar cast is Zhao Tao, the esteemed Chinese actress acclaimed for her unforgettable performances, including her dual Golden Horse wins at the esteemed Taipei Film Festival for her role in the 2015 masterpiece "Mountains May Depart."

Beyond its Cannes premiere, "Caught by the Tides" is set to compete for the prestigious Palme d’Or.
