German drama All Quiet on the Western Front leads Baftas taking 14 nominations

The gut wrenching Netflix film All Quiet on the Western Front, directed by Edward Berger and centered on an idealistic German soldier deployed to the front lines, has been named the front-runner for this year's British Film and Television Awards. A film is on the short list for 14 awards, including best film, director, supporting actor, and adapted screenplay. It shares the place with Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000), a martial epic directed by Ang Lee that earned four victories.

The Banshees of Inisherin by Martin McDonagh, Elvis by Baz Luhrmann, Everything Everywhere All at Once by the Daniels, and Tár by Todd Field were included alongside All Quiet on the Western Front on the list of the nominees.
