The Scarface movie has been brought to us as two different adaptations in two different movies, one in 1932 and one in 1983, starring Al Pacino as Tony Montana. Perhaps the last one sounds more familiar to many. The project to bring a new movie on the screens in 2023 has been in the making since 2011 which resulted in numerous different actors and directors speculated involvement in the production. Luca Guadagnino was one of the few directors to have stuck with the plan to produce the movie and had asked screenwriters Joel and Ethan Coen to rewrite some of the scenes a couple of years ago. This led fans to believe that the movie might really be in the making. Rumors have it that the screenwriters had actually had a hard time adapting the gruesome scenes in the original movie to the current screenplay, however they still wanted to maintain the thrill of the death scenes in the movie.
One of the most recent rumors circulating around the media has been the involvement of Pedro Pascal, famous for the HBO series The Last of Us, as an actor in the reboot.
Given there is no designated director for the reboot yet, fans might be discouraged to hear the movie is still in standby. However, some rumors suggest that director Luca Guadagnino, famous for the Call Me By Your Name movie might be involved in the new production film, as far as he's stated in the Mumbai Film Festival. Unfortunately, Luca Guadagnino himself has confessed that the plan to bring a Scarface reboot is “dead in the water”.
