Netflix live-action of “Cowboy Bebop” out this week!

One of the most famous anime, “Cowboy Bebop”, is having its live-action for Netflix! After years of speculation, the project was started by Netflix in 2019, but the production had to stop becauese of an injury of actor John Cho, who plays Spike Spiegel, one of the lead characters. This event happened in conjunction with the covid pandemic, and only in March of this year, the shooting of the first season was finalized.

Created and directed by Shinichiro Watanabe in 1998, the animated series “Cowboy Bebop” is a mix of sci-fi and western, and it follows the adventures of bounty hunters Spike Spiegel (John Cho), Jet Black (who will be played by Mustafa Shakir), and Faye Valentine (played by Daniella Pineda), aboard the interstellar spacecraft Bebop.

One of the reasons the anime was so popular is its depth: in fact, it examines the ethics of human hunting, laws, and responsibility through its characters.

Netflix's live-action will consist of 10 episodes, and for what we know so far it will not be a straight retelling of the original material, but rather an adaption of the events of the narrative to tell a more succinct story.

So the question is inevitable: will “Cowboy Bebop” be a success or a disaster of the likes of “Death Notes” live-action?

To find out, “Cowboy Bepob” will be out to streaming on Netflix on November 19.
