Omar Sy “Lupin” star signs a multi-year feature film deal with Netflix

The adventures of the most famous thief of all smashed Netflix’s streams. In fact, ‘Lupin’ (2020) gained the very first place of the platform most watched series since the very beginning. Its star, Omar Sy has now signed a multi-year film deal becoming the first French actor to ever close such a deal with the American streaming platform.

This new partnership previews the realization of Paris and LA based productions exclusively made for Netflix. Moreover, Sy will be both acting and executively producing the projects. On the matter, the French actor declared that he has now “experienced Netflix’s collaboration with artists and their passion to bring unique and diverse stories to homes all over the world” adding that he was more than delighted to have extended his relationship with the network, becoming really excited about the forthcoming projects.

The French star gained most of his popularity thanks to his role as “Driss Bassari” in the ‘Intouchables’ (2011) directed by Oliver Nakache and Éric Toledano. The film tells the story of a young Senegalese boy who, after going out of prison, is trying to gain signatures proving he is applying for jobs but can’t find any. Eventually, he ends up hired by Philippe (François Cluzet), a rich tetraplegic looking for a caretaker. The two will end up developing a unique friendship that will make them discover the meaning of a life that seemed already doomed.

The premises are so good that we can’t wait to watch what this new collaboration will bring us!
