Swedish-iranian filmmaker Ali Abbasis new project "The Student" is in the works with Sebastian Stan as young Donald Trump.
Gabriel Sherman, author of "The Loudest Voice in the Room: How the Brilliant, Bombastic Roger Ailes Built Fox News – and Divided a Country" new movie "The Student" is on board as writer. Alongside Stan, Maria Bakalova will portray the late Ivana Trump and Jeremy Strong as Roy Cohn.
According to the logline, “‘The Student’ is an exploration of power and ambition set in a world of corruption and deceit. It’s a mentor-protege story that charts the origins of an American dynasty. Filled with larger than life characters, it reveals the moral and human cost of a culture defined by winners and losers.”
The last time Sebastian Stan played a character involved in politics was in the mini-series "Political Animals" back in 2012. More recently, Stan is knows for his role as James "Bucky" Barnes in the MCU and he recieved Golden Globe and Emmy nominations for his portrayal of rocker Tommy Lee in Hulu's "Pam & Tommy". Maria Bakalova was nominated in 2021 in the best supporting actress category at the Oscars for her role in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm.
