Cannes 2025 Closing Ceremony: A Night of Cinema, Courage & Celebration
The 78th Cannes Film Festival concluded on May 24, 2025, with a powerful finale that honored cinematic excellence and bold storytelling. Iranian director Jafar Panahi received the Palme d'Or for It Was Just an Accident, a poignant reflection on justice and resilience. The Grand Prix was awarded to Joachim Trier's Sentimental Value, while the Jury Prize was shared by Mascha Schilinski's Sound of Falling and Oliver Laxe's Sirat. Kleber Mendonça Filho earned Best Director for The Secret Agent, featuring Wagner Moura, who also won Best Actor. Nadia Melliti was honored as Best Actress for The Little Sister. The Dardenne brothers received Best Screenplay for Young Mothers, and Bi Gan's Resurrection received a Special Prize.
