The 74th annual Berlin International Film Festival, unfolded from February 15 to 25, 2024. Lupita Nyong'o, assumed the role of Jury President for the main competition. This years edition marked the farewell of Carlo Chatrian and Mariette Rissenbeek as festival directors, following their departure in 2023.
The Golden Bear, the festival's highest honor, was bestowed upon "Dahomey," helmed by French-Senegalese filmmaker Mati Diop, marking the second consecutive year a documentary clinched the top prize. Renowned American filmmaker Martin Scorsese was honored with the prestigious "Honorary Golden Bear". "A Traveler's Needs" by Hong Sang-soo received the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize, while Sebastian Stan was recognized with the Silver Bear for Best Leading Performance for his role in "A Different Man."
