The production company is seriously considering bringing back ‘The Sopranos’ with a brand-new prequel. In fact, after announcing the remaking of huge successes like ‘Sex and the City’, ‘Pretty Little Liars’ and ‘Gossip Girl’, they are now confronting David Chase (writer and producer of the series) on digging up the iconic criminal drama.
The hypothetic prequel would be following ‘The Many Saints of Newark’, the very recent ‘The Sopranos’ film, co-written with Chase himself, where Michael Gandolfini plays a teenage version of Tony Soprano, played his late father James Gandolfini. The chief executive officer at Warner Media, Ann Sarnoff declared to be thrilled by the results brought by ‘The Many Saints of Newark’, also adding that they are currently discussing the new series with David Chase, to be distributed by HBO Max. In fact, as already affirmed in several press conferences, the producer affirmed to be in favour of new stories set in the same ground of ‘The Sopranos’. Moreover, he even added that he would only do it if Terry Winter was writing the screenplay with him.
