Why Tom Holland’s Character in “The Crowded Room” was his Hardest Role Yet

The first episodes of the new Apple TV+ limited psychological thriller/ drama series “The Crowded Room”, directed by Mona Fastvold, are finally accessible for streaming.

The cast consists of stars such as Tom Holland, who plays Danny Sullivan, Emmy Rossum, who plays Candy, Amanda Seyfried, who plays the character Rya Goodwin and Sasha Lane, who plays Ariana.

Tom Holland’s character Danny Sullivan is a man arrested for his involvement in a shooting in New York City. Tom Holland does not only play in this series, but he is also an executive producer of it.

Amanda Seyfried’s character, Rya Goodwin, is an interrogator, who wants to discover the truth. During the series, Danny’s life story unfolds through different interviews and flashbacks. It is then shown how his mysterious past has shaped him and also what led to the life-changing incident he went through.

“The Crowded Room” is set in the early 1970’s, which is clearly shown based on for instance the costuming, color grading and music that appears in the episodes.

Tom Holland’s character Danny could most definitely not be an easy role to play. When Holland described his work on the series in an interview, he explained it as “the hardest job I’ve ever had, but equally probably the most rewarding.”

He has said that “Danny is an exhausting character. Going to those places on a daily basis, having that haircut, shooting on the streets of New York, it was tough. It was not an easy show to make,”.

Amanda Seyfried did not have an easy character to play either. When commenting on her work, Tom Holland said, “Amanda is so talented, she’s so professional. She’s able to keep it light when it’s dark,”.

This series is surely worth the viewers time, as it tells a difficult but amazing story, brought to us by marvelous actors.
